About this event

From the renowned “Slack Key Show®” on Maui that produced 4 Grammy Award-winning CDs, three masters share the delightful experience of slack key guitar – the distinctly Hawaiian style of open tunings – ‘ukulele, Hawaiian songs, and a kolohe (rascal) sense of humor.

GEORGE KAHUMOKU JR., four-time Grammy-winner and Slack Key Show producer, is “Hawai‘i’s Renaissance Man”; his range of talents includes slack key guitar, vocals, storyteller, songwriter, teacher, sculptor, farmer, and chef.

LEDWARD KAAPANA is a musical legend, a National Heritage Fellow unrivaled in his exceptional picking style on slack key guitar and ‘ukulele, and his extraordinary baritone to falsetto vocal range.

UNCLE RICHARD HO‘OPI‘I, also a National Heritage Fellow renowned for ‘ukulele and Hawaiian falsetto singing, has a unique yodeling style and jovial stage presence.
