About this event

The StepCrew is a new dynamic dance production combining three styles of percussive dance featuring the world’s top talents in Irish, Tap and Ottawa Valley Stepdancing. This amazing company is led by Cara Butler and The Pilatzke Brothers, Jon and Nathan. Cara is best known as The Chieftains’ principal Irish dancer for the last two decades, while Jon and Nathan are undoubtedly Canada’s leading and most exciting Ottawa Valley Stepdancers. The StepCrew is a pure celebration of dance showcasing each traditional form while creating what Jean Butler of Riverdance fame describes as “a unique and seamless blend of all three”. One of The StepCrew’s “secret weapons” is its musical ensemble – from Canadian champion fiddle players to some of the most sought-after musicians in the Celtic, folk and rock genres. Of particular note is Scotland native Alyth McCormack, whose haunting vocals not only flawlessly contrast the vigor of the dance, but also act as a soundtrack inspiring it. As stated in The Boston Telegraph, “The cast was outstanding. The group’s energy dazzles”. The StepCrew will have the audience literally, on its feet!

“The StepCrew does not simply draw their audience in, they take them by the hand and remind us what
dance is meant to be about – fun!”. – Paddy Moloney, The Chieftains
