Emily West’s dream is to tell stories through song. After moving to Nashville at 18, she enjoyed some success as a country music artist. In search of a clean slate, she packed a bag for New York City. She was looking for a do-over, an opportunity to reinvent herself. She found her home in the clubs and theaters of Manhattan where she transfixed audiences with her one-woman show.
Emily West is a musical maverick in the masquerade of pin-up perfection. Musically captivating and innovative, she knows she has been a hard case for the industry to define. “I'm a Jessica Rabbit/Tom Waits kinda-something. I love hearing beautiful melodies telling me horrible things. I wear my heart on my sleeve. Judy, Barbara, Patsy, Rufus Wainwright, Antony & the Johnson's. I love to interpret a song. I love to sing stories.”
Earlier this year, she made the decision to try out for America’s Got Talent. “I thought maybe if I audition in front of the world, I could save time and see where it takes me. “ It was a wise decision. West excelled on the National stage and came in second in the renowned competition- a result she hopes will allow her to play to the breadth of audience she’s always wanted, and to take them with her on this exciting journey.
